Suwannee River Basin CARES Recognition Set For June 26

On Thursday, June 26, thirteen farm families in the Suwannee River Basin will receive a coveted statewide award for their outstanding achievements in preserving land and water resources.

The recipients have earned top recognition under the County Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship (CARES) program. Created by Florida Farm Bureau Federation more than a decade ago, this program involves an alliance of more than 60 state and federal agencies, county commissions, water management districts, businesses, organizations and individuals.

Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam will present the awards.

The event will be held at the UF/IFAS Suwannee Valley Agricultural Extension Center (formerly the North Florida Research and Education Center), beginning at 6:30 p.m. The center’s address is: 8202 CR 417, Live Oak, FL 32060.
