According to a new study, nursery and landscape enterprises in Florida support jobs for more than 232,000 people. These businesses generate an annual statewide economic impact of more than $21 billion.
University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences researchers who conducted the study also found that 60 percent of the private firms offer plants and landscaping techniques that conserve water and soil resources.
The vitality of this agricultural sector is indicated by employment growth. From 2010 to 2015, for example, nursery and landscape businesses created 28,000 jobs.
