More than 80 Farm Bureau members representing 24 counties in the Sunshine State traveled to the nation’s capital to visit with the Florida Congressional delegation to discuss federal policy issues such as foreign trade, repealing the estate tax and immigration reform.
“We were very excited to meet with every one of our Congressional offices in Washington D.C.,” said National Affairs Coordinator John Walt Boatright. “Our members had a chance to share their personal stories on how federal policy issues affect their farms and way of life. This is such an important piece of the legislative process.”
After a successful day on Capitol Hill the visitors hosted a Taste of Florida Agriculture reception at the. The reception was a chance for lawmakers and their staff to meet informally with our members and enjoy a taste of farm-fresh Florida food.
