June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month

Florida farmers play a significant role in providing consumers with fresh fruits and vegetables year-round. Sunshine State is home to an endless array of fruits and vegetables.

Known as the “Winter Vegetable Capital of the World”. It is also famed for its citrus, but that is only the beginning.

But it is also ranked second in the nation for value of vegetable production and first in the production of oranges, tomatoes, watermelon, grapefruit, fresh market snap beans and cucumbers.

In 2014, Florida’s with agricultural exports topped $4 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
