Dade Editor Receives Top Statewide Journalism Award

Gainesville, Fla. – Mike Dill, editor of the South Dade News-Leader, has been selected as Florida Farm Bureau’s 2013 Newsperson of the Year. The award was announced at the state organization’s annual meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach on Oct. 24. Nominated by members of the Dade County Farm Bureau, Dill has earned a reputation for accuracy and fairness in his coverage of contemporary production agriculture. His work has included news and feature articles on a variety or agricultural operations and the people who make them successful. A panel of judges selected Dill as the recipient after reviewing multiple nominations submitted from across the state. The award recognizes both excellence in journalism and the ability to present reliable information about Florida farming and ranching enterprises before a general audience.
