Entering the halfway point of the 2016 legislative session, Florida Farm Bureau’s legislative agenda is in good shape as it continues to make significant progress in the Legislature. SB 552, a comprehensive water bill and a top legislative priority of Farm Bureau, has already passed the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott. Other legislation, like HB 59, legislation that eliminates local governments from regulating agritourism activities and adds on-site civic and ceremonial events to the definition of agritourism, passed the House last week.
For a complete breakdown and update on Florida Farm Bureau’s legislative agenda, please visit our Legislative Action Center. In addition to our weekly legislative e-newsletter, AgWatch, our Legislative Action Center provides information on bill numbers and our legislative agenda, as well as opportunities for members to take action in support of important agriculture issues.
Florida Farm Bureau is excited to host our members in Tallahassee for Farm Bureau’s Legislative Days this week. Hundreds of farmers and ranchers will make the trip to Tallahassee to meet with state lawmakers and advocate in support of Farm Bureau’s legislative agenda and important issues facing our agricultural producers. We hope to see you in Tallahassee this week.
