Florida Reps. Carlos Curbelo and Gwen Graham introduced a bill to provide relief to farmers impacted by the Oriental Fruit Fly Quarantine in South Miami-Dade County.
Last October, a 98-square-mile quarantine was issued in South Miami-Dade county to contain Oriental Fruit Flies. While absolutely necessary, the quarantine affected the crop season of local farmers. H.R. 4226 will direct the USDA Secretary to make funds from the Commodity Credit Corporation to South Florida farmers, proving much needed relief to those impacted by this pest. Read more.
