Florida Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers are active members between the ages of 18 and 35.
There are several programs which recognize the importance of young farmers' and ranchers' contributions. Each year, active Youth Farmer and Rancher members have the opportunity to participate in three competitive events.
• Achievement in Agriculture Award Program-Highlights young farmers and ranchers in production agriculture and leadership achievement. Competitors are judged on their farm operation and growth, the financial progress of their operation and their Farm Bureau and community leadership.
• Excellence in Agriculture Award Program
• Spotlights young farmers & ranchers who are agricultural enthusiasts but have not earned a majority of their income from an owned production agriculture enterprise in the past three years. Competitors are evaluated on their understanding of agricultural issues, leadership experiences and achievements.
• State Discussion Meet-Designed to build crucial skills in young, active farmers and ranchers. Members build basic upon basic discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach consensus and solve problems.
The Florida Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Program includes both men and women between the ages of 18-35. The objective of the Young Farmers & Ranchers program is to provide leadership in building a more effective Farm Bureau to preserve our individual freedoms and expand our opportunities in agriculture through educational, professional, and leadership development. The Activity Award is bestowed upon those counties who have an active Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and who showcase exemplary efforts and participation in activities throughout the year. The application can be downloaded below and is due to the Florida Farm Bureau Federation office no later than January 15, 2015.
