After-the-storm checklist

Checklist for everyone:

1. Secure your property to keep further damage from occurring.
2. File a claim. Farm Bureau policy holders can do this online at Farm Bureau Insurance
3. Begin the process of documenting losses. Take photographs of damage to buildings, infrastructure (culverts, etc.). Locate receipts.

Agricultural producers should:

1. Document crop losses. Secure sales receipts. Take photos.
2. Notify your crop insurance agent of the loss.
3. Contact the USDA/FSA office for disaster assistance.
4. Ensure eligibility for assistance under the Supplemental Agriculture Disaster Programs.
5. Document damage to infrastructure, including buildings, greenhouses, culverts, etc. Assistance programs may become available.
