Florida Farm Bureau urges producers to participate in meetings on Farm Bill conservation program

The Florida Farm Bureau Federation is urging agricultural producers to attend meetings scheduled around the state in March by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, USDA (NRCS). Rulemaking is in process for the Food Conservation and Energy Act of 2008, commonly known as the 2008 farm bill. NRCS in Florida is preparing to deliver the conservation programs authorized by the bill, many of which provide cost-share and other financial assistance.

The meetings are being held to ensure the natural resources conservation priorities within the state are addressed and to inform partners and Florida’s agricultural producers about the programs.

The public information sessions are designed to provide NRCS customers and natural resource partners the opportunity to hear what programs will be available. Information on how to make public comments will be available and each meeting will conclude with a question and answer session. Topics will range from invasive species to water conservation.
