State Sen. Durell Peaden and state Rep. Larry Cretul today received Florida Farm Bureau’s Legislator of the Year award during the organization’s 2010 annual meeting in Daytona Beach. Both lawmakers have earned the recognition because of their support of Florida agriculture and the people who make it a success.
The awards were presented during a luncheon at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort – the site of the annual meeting.
Sen. Peaden, a physician, has served as the chair of the senate committee on Health and Human Services Appropriations and has been a member of the agriculture, commerce, and judiciary committees, among other duties.
Rep. Cretul, a realtor, displayed stalwart leadership on behalf of agriculture in his work as Speaker of the House.
Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick expressed his appreciation for the work of both men. “We are grateful to Sen. Peaden and Rep. Cretul for their efforts in support of farm producers throughout Florida,” Hoblick said. “Our members have routinely found that these public leaders endorse sound public policy that helps sustain production agriculture. We are pleased to acknowledge and thank them for their good service to agriculturists and the people of Florida.”
The Florida Farm Bureau Federation is the state’s largest general-interest agricultural association with about 140,000 member-families statewide.
