Williamson named chair of Florida Farm Bureau State Women’s Committee

(Daytona Beach, Fla.) – Michelle Williamson of Sydney was elected chair of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s State Women’s Leadership Committee at the Federation’s annual meeting Oct. 10 at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort in Daytona Beach.

Ginny Paarlberg of Lee, who was previously chair, was elected vice chair. Both serve on the Florida Farm Bureau board of directors.

Ann Christmas of Chipley was elected to represent District 1; Kelly Lyons of Mayo will represent District 2; Cheryl Fulford of Frostproof was elected to represent District 5 and Tracie Fulford of Monticello is the Young Farmer and Rancher representative.

“Women play an increasingly active role in agriculture, and the activities our Farm Bureau Women undertake reflects that,” said FFBF President John Hoblick. “Our Women’s Committee coordinates activities that support Florida Farm Bureau’s overall agenda. That includes working to increase public awareness of agriculture’s contribution to the state’s economy and to the well-being of all of our citizens.”

The Women’s Committee also includes Norma Jean Parrish of Jacksonville (District 4); Kelli Hofer of Ocala (District 5); Brittany Phypers of Lake Placid (District 6); Laurie Schuller of Scottsmoor (District 7) and Cindy Griffin of Davie (District 8).

Florida Farm Bureau Federation celebrated 66 years of service to agriculture this year. It is the largest independent agricultural organization in the state with approximately 140,000 member-families, statewide. There are 61 county Farm Bureaus in Florida, where agriculture accounts for $72 billion in annual economic impacts across the state.
