National Ag Day

March 15, 2016

Ag Day logoToday is National Ag Day. It’s a time when producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies and countless others celebrate the abundant food supply provided by U.S. agriculture.

Florida Farm Bureau salutes our farmers and ranchers who grow the food and fiber that we consume every day.

Today’s farmer must feed 155 people as compared to 73 people in 1970. Tomorrow’s farmer must feed more than double that number and produce more food, fuel and fiber on less land.

Land and water conservation are priorities for Florida farmer and ranchers. Farms across Florida conserve more than 11 billion gallons of water annually by implementing Best Management Practices.

Florida Farm Bureau encourages consumers to learn more about their local farmers. Visit your local county Farm Bureau or read about how farmers and ranchers are protecting our natural resources and conserving the land for future generations at http://www.thisfarmcares.org/profiles/.
