- Provide advice to the Florida Farm Bureau Board of Directors on policy or related issues.
- Provide increased strength for individual producers through involvement in a general farm organization.
- Provide additional opportunities for leadership and involvement with Farm Bureau.
- Encourage grower involvement and interaction on commodity-specific issues.
- Foster broad-based focus on specific policy issues.
- Increase the effectiveness of the organization by combining the talents and expertise from a variety of
producers.
General Guidelines
- All nominees must be active Farm Bureau members who are producers of the commodity they are nominated
to represent.
- The Florida Farm Bureau President will consider all nominations and appoint committee members in
December of each year.
- At least five appointments will be made from the top ten producing counties.
- Appointments are for a one-year term, and may be reappointed for a consecutive term.
- Attendance at meetings will help determine reappointment.
- Members will be rotated to surface new leadership and to prevent burnout by committee members.
- In those situations where specialization is a factor within the general commodity group, emphasis will be placed
on achieving a committee balance so that each specialty within the commodity area will be represented.
- The State President will appoint the Chairman and members of each committee.
- The State President may consider nominees other than those submitted by the counties.
- Committees will meet twice per year or as deemed necessary by the President of the Florida Farm Bureau.
- Committees may meet collectively or individually.
- Committee members who attend called meetings are eligible to submit reimbursement forms for mileage
as determined by the FFB Board of Directors.
- Chairmen and Vice-chairmen (alternate) will be nominated to serve on appropriate American Farm Bureau
Advisory Committees. Those appointed to an AFBF advisory committee would be eligible to receive reimbursement as determined by FFBF and AFBF.
Factors to be considered for appointment
- Consideration based on production ranking of nominee’s county
- Geographical diversity
- Production diversity
- Counties with large production may have more than one member
- Nominees must be commercial producers of the commodity
Establishment of New State Advisory Committee
The President of the Florida Farm Bureau will decide on new committee establishment Consideration for establishment of a new state advisory committee will be given when a minimum of five (5) county Farm Bureaus have established a similar county committee.
