Farm Bureau Women’s Communications Boot Camp

Do you have a passion for communicating the agriculture story? Do you enjoy working with the media? Have you ever testified before lawmakers, or would you like to present testimony on behalf of agriculture?

If you answered YES to at least two of these questions, then you will want to apply to participate in the Farm Bureau® Women’s Communications Boot Camp, July 22-25, 2008 in Washington, DC.

This intensive training session will provide you with the skills needed to communicate for agriculture and Farm Bureau. A maximum of 15 participants will be selected to participate in the Boot Camp. During the course of two days, there will be sessions on public speaking, testifying, targeting your message and working with the media.

Upon completion, each participant will be asked to use her communications skills in her community to speak out for agriculture. Upon reporting on the follow-up, one-half of the registration fee will be refunded.

Applications must be signed by a state Farm Bureau staff person and be postmarked and mailed to Farm Bureau Women’s Communications Boot Camp, 600 Maryland Avenue, SW, Suite 1000W, Washington, DC 20024 or e-mailed to Kim Baker at kimb@fb.org no later than May 9, 2008.

All applicants will be notified of their status by May 30 and registration fees are due by June 27. Travel and lodging are the responsibility of the applicant. A room block is being held at the Holiday Inn Capitol, 500 C Street SW, Washington, DC. Further details will be provided to those who are selected to participate in the Communications Boot Camp.
