As stewards of the land, Florida’s farmers and ranchers celebrate Earth Day every day.
Our state’s farmers engage in environmental practices that protect natural resources while providing wildlife habitat, open green space and water recharge areas that become more important every day as Florida’s population grows.
Farmers are committed to protecting the environment through the use of modern conservation and best management practices. The land is not only their livelihood but also represents the future for their families.
On this 40th anniversary of Earth Day remember that Florida farmers not only produce safe, affordable and abundant food, feed, fiber and fuel but they are also doing their part to actively manage natural resources and protect the environment.
A farmer sustains a relationship with the land and the wildlife that live there, not because it is mandated, but because the preservation of open space and protection of flora and fauna is paramount. Farmers and ranchers take their responsibilities seriously.
With that in mind I also thought I’d share an America’s Heartland video link about an outstanding Florida rancher:
Adam's Ranch: 82 year old Florida rancher Bud Adams is excited about cattle and conservation. The Adams Cattle Ranch is famous for its beef, but Bud is also well known as an award-winning photographer. His work has captured life on the ranch as well as the dramatic environment in which he lives and works.
