April Fools Joke on Scottie Butler

By no means does fun and frolic pervade the days of Farm Bureau staff people. But you’ve got to love April Fool’s Day, when we all have license to plague our colleagues with hoaxes.

I, with the able assistance of head of security Larry Parham, played one on our Administrative Assistant and General Counsel Scottie Butler, who, leaving our building for a service club meeting, noted the absence of his Chevrolet SUV. In its place, his parking spot was graced by a very purple, very well-worn Honda scooter.

The backstory on that is ... Scottie was recently the lucky winner of a bicycle, which he confidently mounted on the street outside his house. The bike chain, however, was off the sprocket, and the more our legal eagle pedaled, the slower the bike coasted, until it (and Scottie) fell over. The incident left Scottie asking, “Anyone want to buy a bike?”
